Antisemitism is Surging in 2026
— and it’s very concerning.
46% of the adult population of the world hold antisemitic attitudes. Forty percent of people aged 35 and below believe that “Jews are responsible for most of the world's wars," versus 29% of people aged 50 and above. Only 39% of people aged 18 to 34 recognize the Holocaust's historical accuracy.
In 2024, a total of 9,354 antisemitic incidents were recorded in the United States, which is the highest number since the ADL began tracking incidents 46 years ago. 83% of Jewish students in institutions of higher education have experienced or witnessed antisemitic incidents since October 2023. Sixty-six percent do not have confidence in the ability of their university's administration to prevent antisemitic incidents. In addition, 78% of Jewish students worldwide conceal their Jewish identity on campus, and 81% conceal their Zionist identity.
Carole Nuriel, Managing Director of ADL Israel and the ADL's Senior Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa: “In all parameters, we see an increase of antisemitic displays among young people online, and along with this, a drop in exercising critical judgment when encountering antisemitism online. Israel bears special responsibility for standing with the Jewish communities in the Diaspora.”
Since October 7, we have witnessed a large and dark wave of antisemitism against Jewish communities around the world. The number of Jewish victims murdered in 2025 for antisemitic motives reflects the worrying global trend.
Additionally, artificial intelligence (AI) has become a very destructive tool for dissemination of antisemitism on social media. According to Oren Segal, Senior Vice President of Counter-Extremism and Intelligence at ADL, “We must provide suitable technology to organizations and companies to battle against Holocaust denial and antisemitism in the modern space. Technology is neutral, and we have to ensure that artificial intelligence tools are familiar with and acknowledge our nation's history. Artificial intelligence must work with professional researchers on the way to providing information to the public on the Holocaust and about hatred of Jews.”
The response to antisemitism must be through cooperation between all Jewish streams and all decent people globally.
