THE BLACK COMMUNITY, JEWS and ISRAEL

While there are some articles below detailing some concerning incidents of rising antisemitism in the black community, we also wish to highlight how Israel is a very diverse country that is welcoming to people of all colors and backgrounds: In fact, more than 200,000 residents and citizens of Israel are black (including many Jews from Ethiopia). Also, of the Jews in Israel, nearly half of them are of Middle Eastern origin — called Mizrahim. These were Jews that lived in Arab and Muslim countries for the past 4,000+ years. Sadly, many of them have been expelled from their native countries. Contrary to some narratives, Christianity is vibrant in Israel, and Jews and Christians in Israel are able to coexist well together. In fact, when Jordan controlled Jerusalem pre-1967, Christians were banned from going to their holy sites. Now, they are free to do so.
