Introduction

During the Holocaust, Jews and other oppressed groups were sent to transit camps, where they were used for slave labor, before ultimately being sent to their deaths in gas chambers at various locales in Europe. These were the Lublin killing centers.

The Lublin district of Poland was used by the Germans as a resettlement area for Germanic individuals in Europe. Jewish slave laborers were used not only to boost the German economy, but also to establish the "Eastern Wall" border between the General Gouvernement and the Soviet Union. Many Jews from Austria, Bohemia, Czechoslovakia, France, Germany, Moravia, Netherlands, Slovakia, Ukraine, and elsewhere were deported to the Lublin district of Poland.

Most of those deported to these sadistic camps had little chance of survival due to the primitive and crowded living conditions, disease infestation, and demand for slave labor. The vast majority -- those souls deported to Sobibor and Belzec death camps -- were murdered within two hours of their arrival. They knew nothing about their destination, or the fate awaiting them.

Below is a listing of the known transports from Europe to the Lublin district of Poland. The listing is by no means complete. Especially missing is a list of comprehensive transports from parts of Poland to the Lublin district. The Lublin district's main death camps were Majdanek, Belzec and Sobibor, but there was also a comprehensive sub-camp and labor camp network used to prop up the German economy.
