Nazis at IZBICA
The known Nazis in Izbica included: Kurt Engels and his deputy Ludwik Klemm. Klemm was a volksdeutsche. Both of them committed suicide after the war. Other Nazis in Izbica included Julian Krauss, Stanislaw Krauss, Henryk or Heinrich Krolikowski, and Johann Jan Schulz (Volksdeutsche). Schulz was killed in 1943. A man named Feliks Matys tortured civilians, organized searches and roundups of Jews, and kept property from his victims.
Near to Izbica is a town called Krasnystaw. The S.S. operatives there included: Jan Bernat, unknown Enke, Wilhelm Geisenhof, Hartmut Gerstenhauer* (born 1903), Claus Harms (born 7.30.1903 in Flensburg), Aleksander Hodon/Hodun/Chodon, Fritz Kalich (born 7.1.1892), Arthur Kube, Jozef Mach, Gustav Menzel, Teodor Piele, Rudolf Rieger, unknown Schevior, Johann Scheuerer, Adolf Schmidt, Karl Schwarzer, Claus Volkmann and Hennig von Winterfeld. Kube was executed in 1947. Rieger was executed, date unknown. Von Winterfeld was killed in 1945. The fates of the others are not known.
Known Polish collaborators in Krasnystaw included Jozef Grochecki, Feliks Jaremek, Damazy Kondracki, Jan Kotula, Stanislaw Mikula, Jan Sysa, Stanislaw Sysa, Franciszek Szestowicki, Wladyslaw Szpotowski, Leon Szymanski, Franciszek Wiacek, Jan Wrona, Edward Wrona and Stanislaw Wrona.

Left photo was found with the items of Alfred Pfisterer, a S.S. man stationed at Krasnik in 1943-1944. Pfisterer was from Kochersteinsfeld, District of Heilbronn, Württemberg. He was born Sept. 2, 1912 in Kochersteinsfeld.
